Now, this is Kairi and Selphie, obviously, but hEAR ME OUT!!!
So there's Kairi, left by her two best friends for about a year, one of them forgotten and the other one missing and not showing up even once. Of course, she does have other friends, and so she gets closer to them during that time. She clowns around with Tidus, maybe plays some ball with Wakka, and spends time with Selphie - talking about the stupidest things, complaining about homework, doing sleepovers, having fun. Telling her things she would not dare tell another soul, things about forgotten boys haunting her heart. Selphie's great, she's funny, cheerful, carefree, and she can always put a smile on Kairi's face. But then Kairi gets kidnapped, and when she comes back, it's with her best friends. And Selphie's happy for her, she is, but she's also scared that this is it for them, Kairi goes back to her real friends, the end. Except it isn't. They go on just as before, talking about everything and nothing, having fun, walking together from school. And Kairi's got the wildest stories to tell, and Selphie really is listening, and the stories really are fascinating (especially the bit about having a 'nobody' - they'll have to get back to it later), but Kairi's face is all flushed, and she has this glow in her eyes, and can you really blame Selphie when she grabs Kairi's face and kisses her? But then there's nothing, and Selphie's more scared that ever in her life, and she really considers moving to another world (which is apparently possible), and then there are fingers in her hair, and a smile forming against her lips. And the kiss is messy, they start laughing and almost fall down onto the sand, but it's so them, and they wouldn't have it any other way.
